Get Better Together · Updated 2026-10-29
The short version
Get Better Together works without an account. Your habits, workouts, and food log stay on your device. We don't run servers that receive your data, and the app has no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
What stays on your device
Your name, preferences, habits and check-ins, habit photos, workouts and routines, foods you log or create, and your goals are stored only on this device. Deleting the app removes them, and so does Profile → Delete all data.
Friends, through iCloud
Friends is optional. When you add friends, Get Better Together uses Apple's CloudKit to store what you share in your iCloud account and show it to your friends. You choose for each post whether friends see it. What can be shared: your display name; that you completed your habits for a day and how many there were; that you finished a workout, how long it took, and how many sets you did; photos you add to a habit and that habit's name, only for photos you set to Friends; and the high fives you give.
Other habit names, routine and exercise names, weights, food, and everything else are never shared. Apple may show your friends the name on your Apple Account as part of iCloud sharing.
If you turn on a friend code, the app publishes the code with your display name and a link to join your friends in CloudKit's public database, so people you give the code to can add you. Anyone with the code can join until you turn it off. Turning it off deletes the code, so no one new can add you with it; friends who already joined stay until you remove them. iCloud can only remove people who joined with a code all together, and the app tells you who before it does.
Friends data is stored by Apple and covered by Apple's privacy policy. We, the developer, can't see it. You can make any post private again, remove friends, or turn off your code at any time. Delete all data also deletes your Friends data from iCloud, and your friend code if it was made on that device. If iCloud can't be reached at that moment, for example while you're offline, the app stops before deleting anything and tells you why. Friends data can only be deleted from a device signed in to the same Apple Account.
Food search and exercise photos
When you search for a food or scan a barcode, the words you typed or the barcode number are sent to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org), an independent, nonprofit food database, to find matching products. Nothing else about you is sent. Their privacy policy applies to that request.
Exercise photos load from jsDelivr, a public content delivery network, the first time you view them, and are then kept on your device. Like loading any web page, this request includes your IP address; no other information is sent.
Camera and photos
The camera is used to read food barcodes and friends' codes, and to take habit photos when you ask it to. Photos you pick from your library are copied into the app; it can't see the rest of your library. Nothing is uploaded unless you share a photo with friends.
Reminders
The daily reminder is optional. If you turn it on, the app asks for permission to send notifications and schedules them on your device, at the time you choose. Your iPhone creates and shows them; nothing about them is sent to us or to a push notification service. Turn the reminder off in Profile, or notifications in your device's Settings.
Apple Health
Connecting Apple Health is optional, and you choose what to allow in Apple's permission screen. If you connect it, the app reads your workouts (including from Apple Watch), steps, exercise minutes, and active energy to show them next to your habits and training, and it can save workouts you finish in the app to Apple Health.
Health data is read on your device each time it's shown and isn't stored by the app. It's never shared with friends, never uploaded to iCloud or anywhere else, and never used for advertising or marketing. You can disconnect in Profile, and change or remove the app's access at any time in the Health app.
What we don't do
We don't sell or share personal data, show ads, use analytics or crash-reporting services, or track you across apps and websites.
Children
Get Better Together isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices
Because your data is on your device and in your own iCloud account, you control it directly: edit or delete it in the app at any time. If you have questions or want help, contact us.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and in the app, with a new date. Questions or reports: see the contact address below.
